I wanted to give an update about Dolce (formerly known as Frost).
He is a ham... he dug a hole in the backyard and is laying in the dirt under a tree chilling out, while I do garden work. He loves being with someone and loves giving kisses. My teen cousins were in this past week, so he got tons of attention & love... he was soaking it all up... laying upside down for belly rubs.
Dolce is in love with my father and my sister's boyfriend... so the "I don't care for men" was a fleeting moment in time. He has a crush on my neighbor's Shar Pei... who he likes to visit on our walks. If he sees her through the window he gives a little cry... very cute.
He learned how to get up & down the big stairs and he likes his cage. He is getting along very well with our crew, they all take turns switching dog beds... it is like musical chairs.
Well, that is it for now. I will send pictures soon. (CW)

Frost is now called Dolce and his family loves him. Dolce is working on his stairs skills and has realized that if he lays across all the dog beds he can push the Labradors to do whatever he wants! Sophie the greyhound loves her new Afghan brother and the feeling is mutual. (AS)

29 July 2008
Saturday he left the kennel with his new family to live on Long Island with two Labs and a rescue Greyhound named Sophie. His family states that Frost is doing really well but he does not like stairs! Velveeta came in handy again. This white stunner is working on spoiling his family already! (AS)

Dr. Ulrike Reinisch arrived early from CT and spent hours observing the dogs, particularly withdrawn Edgar and shivering Charlotte, to see which would benefit the most from her fostering and magical TLC .  Charlotte was chosen for a variety of reasons...

Another cheese and treat party as the fosters began to arrive.   Charlotte and Edgar (the wall flowers stayed in the background as more people came outside). Edgar began cheek puffing.

Anna fitted the nervous trio -Charlotte, Jane, Edgar with lure coursing jackets as anxiety wraps. Anna & Christina prepared the comfy crates crates with clouds of paper towels...

Jane turned Lisa's foster agreements into a bed.

I am missing them already...

Dramatic contrast between the way our precious pups looked in their crates the day they arrived and the day they left...

Gloriously groomed, lured by juicy bones and chicken breasts, haloed by Rescue Remedy spray, each happier Hound crated up willingly...

Cyrano left for Maryland, Charlotte for Connecticut, Dante, Whitman and Edgar with Lisa to Philly, Frost (Christina/Jules) and Jane (Sue) staying close by on LI...  (JA)

25 July 2008Frost is continuing to do wonderfully!!   he is comfortable and continues to love being with people and enjoys the attention.   loves to have his neck massaged!!     he continues to walk perfectly on the lead and loves doing so.   he is such a complete sweetheart (LR)

...I felt like Jane Goodall with cheese...Thurs, Edgar was a voyeur and non-participant...Whitman was partying on his own from a distance. Everyone had the happy look except for worried Edgar. By Friday, both boys had joined in the fun... On Friday, Charlotte was romping with the gang but the only one too nervous to partake of the cheese and liver treats...Ironically she had made a pig of herself on Thursday. Jane is adept at finding open run gates and moving the party inside with her siblings.. Everyone "takes food" with manners. (JA)

23 July 2008Frost is town major. He followed me out to his run. But, overall spent most of his time upside down, half asleep looking for belly rubs. He did bark a bunch, when all the other dogs in the kennel were set off. The other afghans where silent. (CW)

GROOMATHON

22 July 2008Frost when he saw me coming was so relaxed all he moved was his head and his tail started wagging. He immediately wanted belly rubs, he will let you pet him almost everywhere, but not thrilled about his paws but all of them were like that though. He was so laid back relaxed it was ridiculous. When I got up to leave he would roll over further to get more belly rubs (JW).

After breakfast, snuggles and lovin' , we took everyone outside in groups of two -  darling frost is the ambassador and kind of tries to get everyone else a bit more comfortable - he is such a doll !!!!  ..... some walked very well and some not so sure.  I think they are all coming along very well and with continued tons of TLC will realize that they are going to be loved and cared for forever.   They really are liking the snuggles and rubs!!  (LR)

21 July 2008leash training! shown here with Edgar

20 July 2008"Frost" ( after Robert Frost) is the cream male, the most relaxed of the 3...Not used to walking a leash but the only one that would leave the crate on his own...Very interested in chicken and cookies from the get go. Already smiling, snuggling toward you......Ate morning and afternoon helping of chicken and rice, most of dry food too.  Gorgeous!!! (JA)
19 July 2008...VERY sweet and very pretty...there is no aggression whatsoever ..... the ordeal that they have endured and they are darlings...the white cream is the most confident and seems to have regrouped quite well with everything.    I could see it in him the minute I saw him at the airport.     doesn't know about walking on a lead , of course,  but is accepting of all.    Loves being pet and fussed over.... he will adjust well and be a wonderful family member.    very very sweet. (LR)
