GIORGIO joins HOPE Program! Formerly known as Silent Bob (he never made a peep at the shelter), Giorgio has really bloomed. He bears the coat patterning typical of an Afghan Hound (short hair on pasterns, curved tail), but sports a dash of a different breed as well. Giorgio was one of the 63 dogs confiscated in the kennel seizure, and was the one that was running loose on the property. Like the other dogs, he never made an any attempt to bite, although his world was changing suddenly and drastically. The adjustments these dogs have made have been a testament to their basic temperament. None of the dogs show signs of being mishandled or abused, their situation was one of extreme neglect. The Afghan Hounds from this seizure have been introduced to the world outside their small pens, learning to walk on leash in public places, meeting strangers inside & outside their homes, learning to live as a majority of housedogs do. And Giorgio's world has expanded too, and he is adjusting admirably! Giorgio is an affable fellow, good with other animals and children, needs a home with a fence, and is still a little reserved at first with strangers. His leash training is going well! Giorgio is available from Homeward Bound and you will find more details on this gorgeous fellow on that site, including more photographs. Homeward Bound is an organization in the area of Harrisburg, PA, and generously took in Giorgio, who could not be taken in by AHCA Rescue. Thank you Homeward Bound! update: 7/11/2007 |
